Can I move my installation to a different location after deployment?

Yes, you can request to move your installation by contacting our support team. Please note that your public static IP address will change when the service is relocated to a different region.

Why should I choose SFTPGo over other similar offerings?

We are the creators and maintainers of SFTPGo and its key protocol libraries, giving us end-to-end control from low-level cryptography to the web interfaces. This means faster security patches, deeper expertise, and direct support from the people who built it. What does it mean that I can use my own Cloud Storage?

Each plan includes a set amount of storage. You can also configure your users to use a cloud storage backend that you own or purchase separately. Supported backends include Google Cloud Storage, Azure Blob, other SFTP servers, and any S3-compatible service (Backblaze B2, Wasabi, IDrive E2, Cloudflare R2, and others). Keep in mind that each plan also includes other resource limits such as CPU and RAM, so subscribing to a "Tiny" plan with 1 TiB of your own storage will not match the performance of a "Standard" plan.

Do I also need a separate support plan?

No, email and video call support is included with every plan at no additional cost.

What happens if I exceed my plan limits?

We will never deactivate your service if you occasionally exceed your storage or bandwidth limits. Instead, we will contact you to discuss upgrading to a different plan. In addition to storage and bandwidth limits, we also consider CPU and RAM limits. Our "Tiny" and "Small" plans are not suitable for installations with many simultaneous connections.

Where will my data be stored?

Your data is stored in the region you select during deployment. See the location selector on each plan above for the full list of available regions.

Will my users need an SFTP/FTP client?

No, it is optional. SFTPGo supports standard SFTP/FTP clients, but also provides an intuitive WebClient that allows non-technical users to browse and manage their files directly from their browser.

How long does it take to get started?

Your dedicated installation is deployed automatically after purchase and is typically ready within 3 to 5 minutes. You will receive access credentials by email and can start configuring users and storage immediately.

Can I migrate from SaaS to on-premises (or vice versa)?

Yes. SFTPGo includes a built-in export/import feature in the Maintenance section of WebAdmin. You can export your users, groups, folders, and configuration, then import them into any other SFTPGo installation.

How does HIPAA compliance work?

HIPAA compliance is available starting with the Small plan and requires a US-based deployment. We enable HIPAA mode on your installation upon request and can sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA). This includes mandatory data-at-rest encryption, reduced idle timeouts, and long-term encrypted audit log retention. We work with a specialized HIPAA firm in the United States to ensure ongoing compliance.

Do you offer a free trial?

Yes! We offer a 10-day free trial. The free trial comes with the features and limits of the plan you selected. Once your trial period has ended, unless you cancel your subscription, you will be automatically charged according to the plan you selected. You will not lose any data.

Is there a setup fee?

No, there are no additional or hidden fees.

Can I switch to a different plan?

Are your prices inclusive of taxes such as VAT/GST?

The prices shown on this page do not include any applicable state and local sales tax or applicable withholdings. Those are the responsibility of the buyers. The location information you provide when making a purchase must be accurate for tax residency purposes. Additionally, if you have a tax identification number, such as a VAT number, please provide it for tax purposes, it will appear on your invoices.

Why do I see slight variations in prices?

Our base prices are in Euros. If your local currency is different, prices are converted at the current exchange rate and may vary slightly. However, once you activate a subscription, the price is locked and remains the same regardless of future exchange rate changes.

Do you accept wire transfers?

Sure, if you prefer to pay by wire transfer instead of credit card, please contact us.

How can I update or cancel my subscription?

You can manage your subscriptions and billing details either through the billing portal, or by contacting our support team.

What does the monthly bandwidth include?

Uploads (inbound transfers) are unmetered. Your monthly bandwidth quota applies to downloads (outbound transfers) from your service.

Do you offer GDPR Data Processing Agreements?

Yes. For the purposes of GDPR, we act as the data processor on your behalf. We can sign a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) using our standard template upon request.
